More of NYC ....

More of NYC ....

After leaving the 9/11 Memorial, we walked to Battery Park.  On the way I enjoyed another New York tradition - I bought a hot dog off a street vendor. It was fun.  I asked the guy to give me the "whole NY experience" and he fixed me one of the hot/spicy dogs with the works ... sauerkraut, chili, mustard, ketchup, relish, onion ... and a diet coke to wash it down.  Pretty tasty!  I ate it on the way to catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty.

The Parks Department provides a very good audio tour for both the Statue and Ellis Island.  I learned a lot of things I had no idea ....

View of the Manhattan skyline (new World Trade Center) from the Statue of Liberty island

Like .... did you know?  The copper covering on the Statue is only as thick as a penny?  Did you know?  Joseph Pulitzer raised the $100,000 to build the pedestal.
