A nice day for a drive ... and a day in Whittier, AK

The sun finally came out (one day only) ...

A day in Whittier, AK (no, these are not black and white photos; no more sun  :))

This one was taken a different day - when the sun came out
Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel—the longest (2.5 miles) highway tunnel in North America, and the first designed for -40 Fahrenheit temperatures and 150 mph winds!
Driving through the tunnel is the only way, by land, to get into Whittier.  There is a schedule for each way and for the train.  You can take a scenic train ride from Talkeetna or Anchorage to Whittier, or make the drive, as I did, but everyone, including the train, take the same toll tunnel.
The middle/bottom is a snap of my GPS while in the tunnel.
