Barnegat Lighthouse, or "Old Barney," as it is sometimes called; The towering red and white structure was engineered by General George G. Meade.

There are numerous legends attached to this house and the chair atop it. One is about a sea captain's wife who sat on the chair and waited for his return. Another is about a man who told his wife she could keep gossiping only if she sat on the chair. Nobody really knows how the chair got up there, but most say it was simply a gag. The home itself is a nice example of Victorian architecture.
